The Annual Teach-In takes the form of a week of public lectures hosted by the Rhodes University Department of Political and International Studies.
We have held these lectures annually ever since 2002. The Teach-In brings a particular issue of interest and concern in the public sphere to the attention of the University and the wider community. The lectures take place over lunch and run for an hour. The public is welcome to attend any of the lectures and to engage with our speakers.
The 2023 Teach-In focused on South Africa's electricity crisis.
Our 2022 Teach-In sought to provide southern perspectives on the Ukraine crisis.
In our 2021 Teach-In, which took place online due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we focused on the Islamic State insurgency in Mozambique. You can watch some of the presentations on our YouTube page.
